Field Trip- Picasso Exhibit

Lucy's class topic was on the Cubist art period. One of the advantages to living in the city is all of the great museums here. The National Gallery had an exhibit on Picasso so we went to see some of his pieces and other cubist artists. I am always amazed at kids and the ability to really enjoy museums if you give them some things to look for and also if you explain to them ahead of time a little about the subject you are going to see. I had these three crazies in my group. And we rode this clear glass elevator that runs on pulleys up to the top of the museum...they loved it, I was quite scared. They loved searching for different artists and seeing and recognizing things that they had already studied. Lucy also pointed out a beautiful Van Gogh that she spotted...which I think was really the highlight for Lucy since she loves Van Gogh after visiting the museum in Amsterdam.

Happy Anniversary!

We celebrated 13 years of marital bliss a few weeks ago. I never thought marriage would be as amazing as it is. Sure I thought it would be good but had no idea how amazing and encouraging, challenging, hard, fun and interesting it would be. I love being married to Phil and know that God had intended for him to be the one, I have learned lots from him and am loved well.
Lucky are we!

Valenties Day at School

Lucy and Vivi are all grown up so no parties for them they just got to have a Disco after school! Aren't they beautiful! Clark's class got to have a party. They had a cupcake decorating contest! Miss A chose and Clark was one of the finalists.
Piper's school had a Valentine's Day extravaganza! They had several stations - cookie decorating, face painting, games, pizza making and of course card making!

Happy Valentine's Day!

We had a great Valentine's Day! We celebrated with our community group - we played the wii, had a taco bar, and decorated cookies. It was fabulous to be around lots of friends we love and care about. We also had several days leading up to it for making decorations and getting ready for Valentine's Day!
I love Valentines's Day!

girls night out!

Lucy had a fun girls night out with a couple of her girlfriends. We went to paint pottery, dinner out and a sleepover. They each painted a dog bank and named it after each other, they took a lot of time and concentration and worked so hard. They looked amazing after they were all fired up. We went to dinner and they were so grown up loving every minute sitting by themselves, and ordering and being silly. Then they stayed up till all hours of the night watching a movie and giggling. Oh to be 9.

Under the Sea

Piper's class was studying water and sea life. So for cooking at school we made fish! They turned out adorably. The kids were very excited to decorate but even more excited to eat them!

guitar lessons

Clark and Owen have guitar lessons once a week and are doing great. They love Mr. Alejandro (he is also Lucy and Clark's piano teacher) - he is from Spain and is very talented. He makes learning fun and is the only music teacher I have ever heard of that the kids ask for more lessons with him every week.
